Arctander writes extensively about this material: “Jasmin Absolute from Concrete is a dark orange (on ageing reddish-brown), somewhat viscous liquid, and it possesses an intensely floral, warm, rich and highly diffusive odor with a peculiar waxy -herbaceous, oily-fruity and tea-like under- tone. The odor and the nuances in the undertone varies according to the origin, production, age and method of purification (from the concrete).

Jasmine Absolute Egypt
Odor: ensely heady flowers with a powdery nuance
Use: A climbing vine with dark-green foliage, Jasminum grandiflorum is renowned for the sweet, floral fragrance of its delicate and diminutive white flowers that bloom in late summer (white flowers tinged with pink). It differs from jasmine sambac, which has fleshier white flowers. A perfumery staple and divinely feminine, jasmine grandiflorum absolute is the quintessence of these white, intensely heady flowers with a powdery nuance. It has also been regarded for centuries as the symbol of love and feminine temptation in the East. Along with the rose, jasmine is a legendary plant in perfumery. Jasmine grandiflorum is now primarily grown in India and Egypt. The Egyptian absolute has more animalic notes than that of Indian origin.

Jasmine Absolute (Jasminum officinale)
Odor: characteristic
Use: Joseph Colbourne has this to say about Jasmine Absolute (Jasminum officinale) “A moderately viscous material of bright orange color, this solvent-extracted Jasmine Officinale absolute from Egypt has a dynamic olfactory profile. Voluptuous, heady white floral top notes are commanding and seductive, the scented equivalent of crushed velvet, opulence, the Queen of Sheba. Only mildly indolic, this absolute has more spicy facets—cinnamic and subtly clove-like undertones. Its dry down reveals soft impressions of tropical fruits and tea leaves.

(1) IFRA would recommend that any material used to impart perfume or flavour in products intended for human ingestion should consist of ingredients that are in compliance with appropriate regulations for foods and food flavourings in the countries of planned distribution and, where these are lacking, with the recommendations laid down in the Code of Practice of IOFI (International Organisation of the Flavor Industry). Further information about IOFI can be found on its website (www.iofi.org).

(2) Category 11 includes all non-skin contact or incidental skin contact products. Due to the negligible skin contact from these types of products there is no justification for a restriction of the concentration of this fragrance ingredient in the finished product.
