Use: Lemongrass ( Cymbopogon flexuosusoil )is another kind of essential oil manufactured and exported under the name of HDDES to identified market segments and the aromatic grass belongs to the family of Gramineae and genus Cymbopogon. The oil is wildly used as an aromatic or its intense lemon like odour and as raw materials for the manufacture of isolates, ionones and other aromatic products. There are two types of lemongrass which can be found in Sri Lanka namely, East Indian (Cymbopogon Flexuosus) and West Indian (Cymbopogon citrates) species. Although the commercial variety is the East Indian, where the abstracted values has a higher percentage than of the West Indian variety. The common practice for distillation is based on the steam and distillation units are spread limited areas in Sri Lanka. In regards to its main chemical component, which is known to be as citral, to the industries likes Perfumery, Cosmetics, and Pharmaceuticals, is an essential constitute and the demand for Essential Oil in global market remains consistently growing. We at HDDES collects the raw materials according to mandated the Sri Lankan standard and manufactures the Lemongrass Oil under the new facility, which is located in BOI Processing zone, Horana.

Lemongrass EAST INDIAN
Odor: characteristic
Use: Lemongrass EAST INDIAN (Cymbopogon flexuosus) grows mainly in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh and I would class this as South India actually but either way this species does differ chemically from the West Indian material as it contains less Citral and Mycrene. The two major constituents are 39.98% Geranial and 31.10% Neral. This may explain why it is not particularly sweet and why it is the dryer smelling of the two oils with a light floral tint.

Use: Lemongrass Essential Oil Blend is a blend of various lots sourced partly from wild and cultivated plants in Karnataka, Andra Pradesh, and Sri Lanka. Seventy percent of the blend is Cymbopogon flexuosus with the other 30% being other Lemongrass species. The color, aroma, appearance, and therapeutic efficacy are all consistent with Lemongrass but with a complexity and beauty not found in a single source. This blend is said to be sweeter, less earthy, and to have a wider range of fragrant appeal. Please note that this blend is concentrated; made up of essential oils only, no carriers.

Notes:
Lemongrass Oil is produced from two distinctly different botanical species of Cymbopogon. One is a native of East India where it grows wild and is now cultivated over a comparatively limited area in the western parts of India. The plant is Cymbopogon Flexuasus and only cultivated plants are used for steam distillation. The other plant, Cymbopogon Citratus, is possibly a native of Ceylon and parts of East India, but it is now found only under cultivation. Unlike C. Flexuosus, the Citratus is widely distributed all over the world and it has been given the somewhat confusing name West Indian Lemongrass. Lemongrass Oil is steam distilled from the fresh or partly dried leaves of the above grass and occasionally, it is water and steam distilled. Outside of India, the west Indian grass is distilled in Africa, Belgian Congo, Angola, Equatorial Africa, Madagascar, Comoro islands, etc., in Central America, in the West Indies, Haiti, Jamaica, in South America and in Formosa, Indochina, Indonesia, Malaya, etc. tsca definition 2008: extractives and their physically modified derivatives. cymbopogon citratus, gramineae.
