Pepper Black Essential oil India
Odor: fresh, spicy-peppery
Use: The pepper plant is a perennial climbing vine with adventitious roots that attach to supports. The flexible, woody stems bear tough, glossy, dark-green leaves. The small, sessile flowers are grouped in long spikes which then form globular berries, or corns. The color of the fruit depends on the level of maturity and makes it possible to distinguish the various types of pepper. Green pepper is the immature corns and black pepper is corns picked when ripe. The reddening corn clusters are harvested and dried in the sun for a few days. The fruits turn brown and shrivel in the sun and are at that point ready for distillation. The resulting essential oil has a fresh, spicy-peppery smell with a woody accent. India quality has an earthy facet that differs from the Madagascar quality, which is more resinous.

Albert Vieille SAS
Pepper Black Essential oil Madagascar
Odor: fresh and spicy
Use: The pepper plant is a vigorous vine that climbs supports using tendrils. The oval leaves are bright green with pronounced veins. It has small green flowers grouped in long clusters, which give way to fleshy fruits of varying colors, depending on maturity. Thus, green pepper is the result of a harvest when the peppercorns are immature, white pepper is the mature peppercorn with the pericarp removed and black pepper is the full, mature peppercorn, picked when tinged with red. Several days of sun-drying transforms these fleshy berries into small, shriveled, black kernels with a strong, spicy aroma. The fragrance of black pepper essential oil is fresh and spicy with a delicately woody note. The Madagascar origins can be detected in the characteristic resinous facet.

Use: Adam Michael has this to say about Black Pepper Essential Oil “…Pepper (Piper nigrum) is a woody climbing plant, native to East Asia. In its natural state it can climb as high as 20 feet, but when grown commercially it is usually pruned to a maximum of 12 feet for convenience. It has been known as both a medicinal and a culinary spice in the Far East for over 4,000 years, and in Europe from at least the 5th century. Like many spices, it was highly prized, and Attila the Hun is reputed to have demanded 3,000 pounds of pepper as part of the ransom for the city of Rome.”

Use: Pepper is a liana native to the Malabar coast that starts giving fruits only after seven or eight years. The white, black or green grains correspond to the different maturation states and treatment of the fruit. Cultivated in exotic areas, black pepper is harvested before it is mature and sundried until the envelope wrinkles and turns black. During the Middle-Ages, Pepper was a means of paying back one’s debts and taxes. It is one of the most used spices in the world and its oil is also used to provide a special effect in modern quality perfumes.
