Use: In Eastern Religious Traditions, Sandalwood has long been used as ritual oil to bless congregations and to achieve higher consciousness in meditation during religious rites of Hindus, Buddhists, Parsees and Moslems. For the past four centuries, Sandalwood oil has been popular as an aphrodisiac thus boosting its use for sensual message, aromatherapy and fragrance; including cosmetic & soap.

Use: Sandalwood tree usually grows in the intermediate zone in Sri Lanka and naturally found in South East Asian region like Australia and Indu-Malayan region. Sandalwood is belonging to the family of Santalaceae and in Sri Lanka Santalum album species is naturalized but in other regions Santalum spicatum and Santalum acuminatum can see. Then tree can be identified with its leaves and bark. Leaves like drooping and light green, young leaves are very light green. Tree height average 10 – 15 m and more branches are coming unless it is pruned. Bark light black and mature stage looks like furrowed with lot of white lichens.

Sandalwood Mysore Essential Oil
Odor: characteristic
Use: Adam Michael has this to say “Indian sandalwood essential oil has a calming effect and is wonderful for relieving chest infections. Very useful in massage for treating sore throats. Sandalwood has long had a reputation as an aphrodisiac. It is an intimate perfume, in distinction to most other essential oils, largely because of its very slow rate of evaporation, which means that one has to be quite close to smell it at all (except in the case of when its being evaporated in which case it can be quite pervasive).

Use: Sandalwood oil has a sweet, woody, earthy, pleasant aroma. This material is great for soaps, massage blends, and aromatherapy. Sandalwood oil is typically more rare due to the fact that younger trees are not as fragrant as mature trees are. A lot of time and care go into natural Sandalwood oil.

Notes:
The oil is steam distilled or water distilled from the coarsely powdered wood of billets and roots of Santalum Album, a comparatively small tree. The tree originates in India, Ceylon, Indonesia and surrounding islands and it grows wild in the Portuguese island of Timor and on Celebes, among other places. Good blender in violet and rose. main constituents of east indian sandalwood oil are alpha-santalol, beta-santalol, alpha-santalene, coumarin, and alpha-terpineol. tsca definition 2008: extractives and their physically modified derivatives. santalum album, santalaceae.
