Sandalwood Essential Oil (Santalum Album)
Odor: characteristic
Use: Sandalwood is considered indispensable in many social and religious rituals in some parts of the world. Albert Vieille SAS
Sandalwood Essential oil India
Odor: sweet, balsamic, woody
Use: Indian sandalwood, or white sandalwood, is one of the oldest perfumes in the world, used as incense since ancient times. The fragrant wood of this small tree, found primarily in India, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, is the source of sandalwood essential oil, extracted by steam distillation. Indian sandalwood is of the Santalum album species. Though very close to New Caledonian sandalwood Santalum austrocaledonicum in composition, it has different, spicier olfactory nuances. The sweet, balsamic, woody fragrance is softened by a creamy, milky note. Used as incense in religious rites, sandalwood is mentioned in the sacred Sanskrit texts and Chinese manuscripts from four millennia ago. Some temples were even made with this wood, along with fragrant sculptures of deities.

Sandalwood is belonging to the family of Santalaceae and in Sri Lanka Santalum album species is naturalized but in other regions Santalum spicatum and Santalum acuminatum can see. Then tree can be identified with its leaves and bark. Leaves like drooping and light green, young leaves are very light green. Tree height average 10 – 15 m and more branches are coming unless it is pruned. Bark light black and mature stage looks like furrowed with lot of white lichens.

Sandalwood Mysore Essential Oil
Odor: characteristic
Use: Adam Michael has this to say “Indian sandalwood essential oil has a calming effect and is wonderful for relieving chest infections. Very useful in massage for treating sore throats. Sandalwood has long had a reputation as an aphrodisiac. It is an intimate perfume, in distinction to most other essential oils, largely because of its very slow rate of evaporation, which means that one has to be quite close to smell it at all (except in the case of when its being evaporated in which case it can be quite pervasive).

The tree originates in India, Ceylon, Indonesia and surrounding islands and it grows wild in the Portuguese island of Timor and on Celebes, among other places. Good blender in violet and rose. main constituents of east indian sandalwood oil are alpha-santalol, beta-santalol, alpha-santalene, coumarin, and alpha-terpineol. tsca definition 2008: extractives and their physically modified derivatives. santalum album, santalaceae.
