osmanthus flower absolute
osmanthus fragrans flower absolute

Notes:
The flowers from a small tree of the family Oleaceae are used in China and Japan as a starting material in the production of a concrete and an absolute. The flowers of Osmanthus Fragrans are extracted with petroleum ether to yield a concrete, which in turn gives an absolute after alcohol extraction. Since the yield of absolute from concrete is only about one kilo per 3,000 kilos of flowers, the enfleurage method or the infusion process have also been applied to these flowers. The perfumed extraction oil can be used as is in cosmetic preparations with some advantage. tsca definition 2008: extractives and their physically modified derivatives. osmanthus fragrans, oleaceae.

Adam Michael has this to say about Osmanthus Absolute “This is a highly seductive floral absolute, the initial top note is somewhat fruity and sweet comparable maybe to eating yellow Mirabelle plums late in the summer. However it is the heart note that makes this utterly spectacular as I detect an infusion of sweet juicy apricots, fresh cream and a thick helping of Greek honey. This absolute is truly beautiful, incredibly tenacious and the jewel in the floral absolute crown. Used in high class floral perfumes and bases, blends particularly well with cassie, blue lotus, mimosa, orange blossom, peach CO2. Osmanthus should also be considered as an impact floral-fruit note.”
