Odor Description:sweet, woody cedar
Eastern Red cedar is a large, slow-growing evergreen that reaches 30 meters in height. It is native to the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains in North America. A member of the Cupressaceae family, it shares botanical attributes with juniper (Juniperus genus) and its cousin, the cypress, for the evergreen foliage is composed of overlapping scales and needles. The fruits are globular, purple-brown berries reminiscent of juniper berries. The red-brown heartwood earned the tree the name “Red cedar.” Eastern Red cedar essential oil is distilled from sawdust and shavings from American wood mills. The sweet, woody fragrance of the essential oil is characteristic of the “cedar” notes found with Atlas cedar, but enhanced by a pencil facet.
Pell Wall Perfumes
Cedarwood Virginian
Odor Description:Woody, pencil-shavings, balsamic, amber, dry. Fixative
According to Arctander: “The dry-woody character and the fixative effect of cedarwood oil, Virginia, make it almost universally applicable. The oil is frequently used as the only active perfume ingredient in room sprays, disinfectants, insecticides, cleansers and other industrial products, household products, etc. Mixed with Ceylon citronella oil, it was once a popular mosquito-repellent, but it has now been replaced by more active chemicals.”

Use: Juniperus virginiana, steam distilled wood, U.S.A. Also known as Red cedar, it is from the family Cupressace?. Although this tree is from this family and not from the family Pinace?, it is still called Virginia Cedar. Its scent is sweet and woody, sometimes reminiscent of sandalwood. Calms nervous tension and states of anxiety. Expectorant, dries phlegm. Recommended for hemorrhoids. Deters moths and other insects, usually in drawers and closets. Care should be taken that garments do not directly touch wood treated with Cedarwood essential oil. Blends well with bergamot, cinnamon, frankincense, rose, sandalwood and rosemary.

Use: Have you considered Virginia Cedarwood? 08/19/2013 Our Virginia cedarwood is made from the sawdust and small wood chips cast off from a sustainable lumber operation in the United States. Buying this product helps keep Americans working and keeps the money here in the US. It is a good feeling to support US producers. Other wood oils are fine, but at least consider this beautiful high cedrol product as a low cost alternative to Cypress, Hinoki and Copaiba.
