      Lavender Floral water France
Lavender is a bush that grows wild in mountainous regions, including in the Alpes de Haute Provence. The 20th-century expansion of the perfume industry in Grasse made France the leading producer of lavender, and that tradition lives on. Taking the form of a small, rounded shrub, lavender produces a multitude of stems that bloom in the heat of summer. The blue-purple flower clusters contrast nicely with the abundant gray-green foliage forming the base. The flowers are reaped in July and August while blooming for the extraction of essential oil, which is steam-distilled. The distillate is a mixture of oil and recondensed water, forming two distinct phases. But a small amount of essential oil solubilizes in the distillation water, creating a product called lavender hydrosol or lavender floral water. Lavender water has the characteristic scent of lavender essential oil.
