Odor: characteristic
Use: Adam Michael has this to say ” I absolutely love Hermitage spearmint – green, herbaceous, candy sweet, cooling, bubble gum minty. This is just like smelling the leaves of spearmint or chewing spearmint flavoured gum. Blend with peppermint for the double mint effect, adds unique freshness to florals, imparts unique effects into lavender blends and can be useful for further building jasmine notes. Produced by steam distillation of the flowering tops and leaves, pale yellow in colour and of of a pourable viscosity.”

The Perfumery
Spearmint oil, China
Odor: characteristic
Use: Originating in China, this variety of Spearmint oil is ideal for soaps, candles, and personal care formulations. It has a sweet, minty, fresh aroma. It's worth nothing that this commercial grade of Spearmint oil will not fit the ISO specifications. We recommend our United States Spearmint [MenSpi2] for aromatherapy applications.
The Perfumery
Spearmint oil, USA (60-70% Carvone)
Odor: characteristic
Use: Originating the United States, this variety of Spearmint oil has an intense warm, slightly green, herbaceous aroma. The carvone content is roughly 60-70%. It's penetrating and truly reminiscent of the crushed herb. It blends well with other mints and is surprisingly stable in soaps. United States Spearmint oil comes highly recommended for our aromatherapist compared to that of Chinese Spearmint.

Notes:
The story of the spearmint is quite an amusing one. The plant Mentha Spicata originated in Europe, was introduced into the U.S.A. and is now one of the most important essential oil bearing plants of the U.S.A. Spearmint Oil is produced by steam distillation of the flowering tops of the plants, which are partially dried prior to distillation. The distillation is carried out in the fields in stills. tsca definition 2008: extractives and their physically modified derivatives. mentha spicata, labiatae and occasionally mentha cardiaca, labiatae.
