Odor: characteristic
Use: This is a very stable oil due to its natural antioxidant system, it is almost odorless with a clear, pale yellow color which may vary from batch to batch. Medicinal uses: The seeds are helpful in cases of constipation and, when ground up with water, can be used to treat hemorrhoids. Internal use of sesame seed oil is said to improve the blood platelet count and combat anemia. The oil is soothing to the digestive tract (high in calcium, not acid forming) and is a mild laxative.

REFINED SESAME OIL N.F.
Odor: characteristic
Use: Sesame oil is high in polyunsaturated fat, the 4th behind safflower, soybean, and corn. There are two basic forms: light and dark. Extracted from SESAME SEED, sesame oil comes in two basic types. One is light in color and flavor and has a deliciously nutty nuance. It's excellent for everything from salad dressings to sautéing. The darker, Asian sesame oil has a much stronger flavor and fragrance and is used as a flavor accent for some Asian dishes. Its average SMOKE POINT is 420°F, making it excellent for frying. Thick, amber-colored, and aromatic, dark sesame oil is made from roasted sesame seeds. Dark sesame oil burns easily and loses flavor when overheated, so it is used mostly as a condiment or flavoring for dressings, soups, and stir-frys.
Welch, Holme & Clark
REFINED SESAME OIL
Odor: characteristic
Use: An interesting property of Sesame Oil is its synergistic effect when used with pyrethrum insecticides. This effect has been found to be partly due to the substance known as Sesamolin which occurs in the oil and partly due to other substances closely related to Sesamolin.
