LINSEED OIL - NONBREAK 1102
Odor: charateristic
Use: ADM's varnish oils are all based on selected flaxseed assuring high iodine value and fast kettle properties. None of these varnish oils will break at varnish kettle temperatures. There are three different types of oils: Superb, Nonbreak, and ADM Varnish. Performance and physical properties: These oils vary primarily in color and acid number. The fastest kettle oil in the group is Superb. It is catalyzed and low in acid number-- the higher the acid number, the slower the oil will cook. However, varnish resins are generally more soluble in higher acid oils and additionally higher acid oils are generally better paint oils.

BOILED LINSEED OIL
Odor: characteristic
Use: Linseed oil dries very slowly, unlike boiled linseed oil which is simply raw oil with chemical accelerators, called "driers" added. Because boiled linseed oil has a faster drying time, people generally prefer to use this. The linseed oil is used as an emollient in liniments, pastes, and medicinal soaps, and in veterinary medicine as a laxative.
Welch, Holme & Clark
RAW LINSEED OIL
Odor: characteristic
Use: Linseed oil is a yellowish drying oil derived from the dried ripe seeds of the flax plant (Linum usitatissimum, Linaceae) and is a major ingredient in a lot of oil paints and varnishes. It is obtained by pressing, followed by an optional stage of solvent extraction.
Welch, Holme & Clark
REFINED LINSEED OIL
Odor: characteristic
Use: The linseed oil is used as an emollient in liniments, pastes, and medicinal soaps, and in veterinary medicine as a laxative.
WILD Flavors
Flaxseed Oil or Hi-Omega
Flavor: taste
Flaxseed oils help maintain skin, hair and nail health. Flaxseed is nature’s richest source of alpha-linolenic acid, which is an Omega-3 fatty acid. Alpha-linolenic acid is an essential fatty acid and a necessary component of cell walls and cellular membranes throughout the body.

Notes:
the fixed oil obtained from the dried ripe seed of linseed, linum usitatissimum (l. linaceae). it is used as an emollient in liniments, pastes, and medicinal soaps, and in veterinary medicine as a laxative. it is also called flaxseed oil. (dorland, 28th ed) tsca definition 2008: extractives and their physically modified derivatives. it consists primarily of the glycerides of the fatty acids linoleic, linolenic and oleic. (linum usitatissimum).
